Your first appointment begins with a free phone consultation which you can book here. During the consult, we will briefly discuss what you are looking for in therapy and look at scheduling preferences. I can also check to see what insurance benefits you may have access to. If you want to move forward with scheduling, you will have the option to book your first appointment over the phone or receive a booking link to pick your own time from the options available.
If I am not a fit or for any reason believe you would have a better outcome with a different therapist/service, I am happy to provide you with those resources.
Existing clients can schedule/reschedule appointments here.
The therapy process is unique for every individual, couple, and family, but follows a general pattern. Our first appointment is a time to start building trust, for us to get to know one another and for me to learn about you, your family, and what brings you to therapy. We will set some initial goals and decide on a schedule that works for both of us.
For couples therapy, both you and your partner must be present for our first appointment and all following appointments so that we can keep a balance of trust.
For family therapy, we will decide on our initial phone call who needs to be present for our first session.
Yes! You have a couple of options to utilize any out-of-network benefits you may have.
I've partnered with Thrizer to streamline this process. Thrizer does charge a small fee ($2/superbill or 5% of my session rate to file OON claims). On average, clients who use Thrizer end up saving 70% after deductibles are met, even with the small fee.
I can also provide you with a monthly invoice called a Superbill which contains similar information as an insurance claim (including dates of service, diagnostic code(s), and type of service). You can submit the Superbill to your insurance company and work directly with them to request reimbursement for the cost of your sessions. I cannot guarantee that your insurance will reimburse you in whole or in part as it depends on your individual plan, out of network coverage, and deductible.
I have a limited number of reduced rate/sliding scale slots available for those experiencing financial hardship. Rates are agreed upon by therapist and client and are subject to review every 3 months to allow for adjustment depending on changing life circumstances.
If we cannot come to an agreement on a reduced rate, or if there are not available slots I am happy to provide referrals to other therapists.
Nope. You do not have to be of any particular faith or religion to see me. I strive to be balanced and unbiased in the services I provide, and love learning from you about what is important to you. I chose to disclose my faith because I believe for some it can be an important factor when deciding if a therapist will be a good fit. For those interested in incorporating their spiritual beliefs in therapy, it can be helpful to know where your therapist is coming from so open conversations can be had without assumptions.
I am very comfortable working from a Biblical perspective. I usually ask about spiritual beliefs in our first session as I'm getting to know you, and will likely ask at that time if your faith is something you would like incorporated in our therapy. I believe the Bible has a lot to say about our lives and issues, and can be a source of healing and freedom. I also recognize that many have wounds from religion or various interpretations of the Bible. I am mindful of these and have experienced these wounds myself. Sometimes a fresh look at biblical principles through a non-religious perspective can be very healing in those wounds.
